recovery surgery partner help to bath

Recovery: in pictures

The past few weeks have been tough, recovering from an emergency surgery that knocked me off my feet.  During this time, I have had so little control and I have been unable to do much for myself, which has been so difficult.  But I am so lucky to have my Timm who has been there through it all, he has bathed me, cooked for me, sang to me, sorted my medication and just been my hero.  I’m also lucky to have a budding photographer in my child Eli, who has snapped a few shots during this very rough time.

Enjoy.

Hi Sam, what beautiful pics and God where did you find Tim……both Tim and your daughter sent from the heavens!!!
Awful part of the roller coaster for you, think ahead, you will get there as you always seem to.
I actually went shopping with a friend the other day, thought to myself how good it was to do normal things again……….baby steps, but I’m getting there, you have to drag out the patience hat again.
How lucky are you to have Timm, my ex husband left me whilst I was in intensive care, that was 4 years ago, I’ve got thru all my ops and cancer with my beautiful family and friends, bless them. So Timm is an Angel!!!!
    Hang in there mate.

Three pics: Timm, holding hands with arms, holding hands and both asleep I’d have them framed and put up on the wall; they’re beautiful! Glad things are looking more positive and you seem happier in your writing.

Sending you Both LOVE AND HUGS XXXXXXXXXX

    Hi Sam,
Your recovery journey has really helped and inspired me. Looking at your photos made me cry as I have been in your position many times, and will be again as I await my fifth surgery in seven years. I have undiagnosed inflammatory bowel disease and have an ileostomy (my second one). My next surgery will involve taking a part of my bowel out that has repeated abscesses, infections and a structure. Best case scenario that’s all they do however the surgeons will not know how serious the procedure will be until they go in. Worst case scenario is they will take all of my bowel out, leaving me with a permanent colostomy and taking out my ovaries and Fallopian tubes. I’ve not been lucky enough to have children yet due to my illness so we are going through ivf to harvest our embryos before surgery. I am keeping my fingers crossed I won’t need emergency surgery before we get this sorted. I’m dreading my surgery and don’t feel my body can take any more but seeing how you have been incredibly strong and have had no choice but to keep going has encouraged me to hold my head up high and deal with it. Also, like you, we don’t have any choice. I fortunately have a loving and caring partner like yours who washes my hair after surgery, holds it when I’m sick and makes getting out of bed worthwhile. I wish you all the very best with your recovery and I strive to be like you when my time comes again.
Thank you for helping me by sharing what you are going through.
